Utilisation of the mobile container for packing / unpacking books has many advantages over traditional crate packing method. Advantages include speed deployment, speed of packing / unpacking, ease of loading / unloading, general ease of transporting, eliminating heavy lifting, reducing risk of damage and is unobtrusive.
Packing, unpacking and transportation activities are carried out simultaneously. Typically, books can be in their new location within 2 hours of packing. Additionally, our tagging system provides complete flexibility in the order in collection is packed and relocated.
Special Collection Relocation
Our team assess the collection during the planning stage and identify any specific requirements.
Typically, during a special collection move we provide acid-free packing materials, padded packing containers and we individually wrap items which are delicate and / or fragile. Our team is experienced special collection movers, and they take all necessary steps to ensure the condition of stock is maintained during the move process.

Initial project planning meetings
Drawing of existing locations should be made available, these will ideally include book / journal collection locations
Shelving installation drawings provided, preferably in AutoCAD format
Detailed project programme should be developed, incorporating working schedules of other contractors if necessary
Site familiarisation - access toutes, H + S issues, environmental issues, collection locations, and areas of integration or separation identified and quantified
Future expansion space requirements applied to journal titles
All collections precisely measured to ascertain linear meter age of each collection
Book height survey - necessary shelf height adjustments are identified
Measurement information is inserted into move measurement spreadsheet
Fill ratios are calculated (using measurements and drawings)
Proposed collection locations mapped onto shelving manufacturers installation drawings
Review drawings, amendments and alterations made were necessary, drawings approved by library staff
Pre-move survey of new shelving layout to ensure floor plans are 100% accurate
